A retention system for a wear member may have a flange (32) having a mounting slot (38) defined between a first inner wall (40) and a second inner wall (42), which are parallel to an axis (76). The retention system may also have a first retention member (48) having a first through hole (60), and a second retention member (50) having a second through hole (66). The retention system may additionally have a fastener (52) configured to be received in the first and second through holes. The fastener may be configured to move the first retention member and the second retention member in opposite directions along the axis. The retention system may be configured such that movement of the retention members along the axis exerts forces on the first and second inner walls perpendicular to the axis.
