Provided are a water splitting apparatus and a water splitting method that are: capable of maintaining a high gas-generating efficiency whether in the initial period of light irradiation or when time has elapsed; and capable of restoring the amount generated of hydrogen gas, etc., capable of generating hydrogen gas, etc. stably on average over long periods, and capable of increasing the total amount generated of hydrogen gas, etc. over long periods even when time has elapsed and the amount generated of the hydrogen gas, etc. has decreased.

L'invention concerne un appareil de fractionnement de l'eau et un procédé de fractionnement de l'eau qui sont : capables de maintenir une efficacité élevée de génération de gaz pendant la période initiale de l'irradiation lumineuse ou une fois le temps écoulé ; capables de restaurer la quantité générée d'hydrogène gazeux, etc. capables de générer de l'hydrogène gazeux, etc. de manière stable en moyenne pendant de longues périodes, et capables d'augmenter la quantité totale générée d'hydrogène gazeux, etc. pendant de longues périodes, y compris lorsque le temps s'est écoulé et que la quantité générée d'hydrogène gazeux, etc. a diminué.
