A coal combustion process is described using coal and processed biomass to reduce adverse by-products in a coal combusting apparatus including the reduction of carbon dioxide by at least 50 volume %. The coal feedstock is selected from coal, a coal substitute processed biomass, or an aggregate blend of coal and processed biomass. The biomass feedstock comprises processed biomass pellets. The total energy density is predetermined and can be similar to the coal component or higher than the coal component. The intracellular salt in the processed biomass is at least 60 wt% less for the processed organic-carbon-containing feedstock used to make the processed biomass pellets than that of the starting un-processed processed organic-carbon-containing feedstock.

L'invention concerne un procédé de combustion de charbon utilisant du charbon et une biomasse traitée afin de réduire des sous-produits indésirables dans un appareil de combustion de charbon comprenant une réduction d'au moins 50% en volume de dioxyde de carbone. La charge de charbon est sélectionnée à partir de charbon, de biomasse traitée de substitut de charbon ou d'un mélange agrégé de charbon et de biomasse traitée. La charge de biomasse comprend des granulés de biomasse traitée. La densité énergétique totale est prédéterminée et peut être similaire à la composante de charbon ou supérieure à la composante de charbon. Le sel intracellulaire dans la biomasse traitée est inférieur d'au moins 60% en poids pour la charge contenant du carbone organique traité utilisée pour fabriquer les granulés de biomasse traitée par rapport à la charge contenant du charbon organique traité non traitée de départ.
