Abstract

Disclosed are polyether and polyesters polyol condensations. The polyols are uniquely suited for ease of manufacture and improved adhesive characteristics particulariy for low surface energy materials. The materials can be used in urethane adhesives. The use of a glycidyl ether or ester compound as a capping agent can improve the manufacture of and the properties of polymer polyol compounds. Capped polyol compositions of the disclosure are substantially linear polyether or polyester polyols with an acid number equal to or less than about 2 or a hydroxyl number equal to or greater than 10 shows improved properties when used in curable (i.e.) polyurethane adhesive materials.

L'invention concerne des réactions de condensation de polyéther et polyester polyols. Les polyols sont spécifiquement adaptés pour des raisons de facilité de fabrication et pour leurs caractéristiques améliorées en termes d'adhérence surtout en ce qui concerne les matériaux à faible énergie de surface. Ces matériaux peuvent être utilisés dans des adhésifs à base d'uréthane. L'utilisation d'un composé d'éther ou d'ester glycidylique en tant qu'agent de coiffage peut améliorer la fabrication et les propriétés de ces composés polymères de polyol. Les compositions à base de de polyol coiffé selon l'invention sont essentiellement constituées de polyéther ou polyester polyols linéaires présentant un indice d'acide inférieur ou égal à environ 2 ou un indice d'hydroxyle supérieur ou égal à 10 et elles sont caractérisées par des propriétés améliorées lorsqu'elles sont utilisées dans des matériaux adhésifs durcissables (par exemple) à base de polyuréthane.
