Die Erfindung betrifft eine Beleuchtungseinrichtung mit mindestens einer Laserlichtquelle (1) und mindestens einem Lichtwellenlängenkonversionselement (2), das dazu ausgebildet ist, von der mindestens einen Laserlichtquelle (1) emittiertes Licht anteilig in Licht anderer Wellenlänge zu konvertieren, wobei die Beleuchtungseinrichtung mindestens einen Lichtsensor zur Überwachung der Lichtemission aufweist, wobei die Beleuchtungseinrichtung mindestens zwei Lichtsensoren (31, 32) aufweist, die beide zum Detektieren von am mindestens einen Lichtwellenlängenkonversionselement (2) gestreutem, nicht-konvertiertem Laserlicht vorgesehen sind, oder die beide zum Detektieren von konvertiertem Laserlicht vorgesehen sind, oder die Beleuchtungseinrichtung mindestens ein optisches Element (71, 72; 73) aufweist, das derart ausgebildet ist, dass am Lichtwellenlängenkonversionselement (2) gestreutes, nicht-konvertiertes Laserlicht oder konvertiertes Laserlicht mittels des optischen Elements (71, 72; 73) zu dem mindestens einen Lichtsensor (38) gelenkt wird. Außerdem betrifft die Erfindung auch ein Betriebsverfahren für eine derartige Beleuchtungseinrichtung.
