Abstract

A method for welding together glass workpieces where one of the workpieces has metal nanoparticles positioned at or near the surface to be welded. The method comprises positioning the workpieces in operative contact at an interface where a weld is to be formed, applying a laser beam to be incident upon the interface wherein energy from the laser beam is absorbed by the nanoparticle bearing workpiece and the energy from the laser beam is transferred to the glass surrounding the metal nanoparticles to heat the glass and to weld the workpieces together.

La présente invention concerne un procédé pour souder conjointement des pièces de fabrication en verre, dans lequel une des pièces de fabrication comporte des nanoparticules métalliques positionnées au niveau ou à proximité de la surface à souder. Le procédé comprend le positionnement des pièces de fabrication en contact opérationnel au niveau d'une interface où un soudage doit être formé, l’application d’un faisceau laser de manière à être incident sur l’interface, l’énergie du faisceau laser étant absorbée par la pièce de fabrication comportant des nanoparticules et l’énergie du faisceau laser étant transférée au verre entourant les nanoparticules métalliques pour chauffer le verre et souder les pièces de fabrication conjointement.
