Abstract:
(EN) In the present invention, a holding seal material is characterized by containing coated fibers that are inorganic fibers that have the surfaces thereof coated with a binder layer, by the binder layer containing an organic binder and an inorganic binder, and by the rate of coated fiber diameter variance (d) of the coated fibers as indicated by formula (1) and as measured using a 1000x enlarged image from a scanning electron microscope being 25% or less. (1) Rate of coated fiber diameter variance (d) (%) = ((Dmax-Dmin)/D) x 100. (In the formula, d is the rate of coated fiber diameter variance of the coated fibers, Dmax is the average maximum diameter of the coated fibers, Dmin is the average minimum diameter of the coated fibers, and D is a reference diameter that is the average value of the average maximum diameter (Dmax) and the average minimum diameter (Dmin).)
