An apparatus and method for imaging a sample of substantially undiluted whole blood is provided. The method includes the steps of: providing a substantially undiluted whole blood sample admixed with at least one non-Wright stain colorant, which colorant is operable to differentially identify constituents containing cytoplasmic material; providing an analysis device having an analyzer with at least one processor, at least one sample illuminator, and at least one image sensor; creating an image of the sample using the analysis device; and using the analysis device to transform the image to a transformed image having a coloration recognizable as a Wright stained sample.

La présente invention concerne un appareil et un procédé d'imagerie d'un échantillon de sang total sensiblement non dilué. Le procédé comprend les étapes consistant à : prélever un échantillon de sang total sensiblement non dilué mélangé à au moins un colorant autre qu'un colorant de Wright, ledit colorant pouvant servir à identifier de manière différentielle des constituants contenant un matériau cytoplasmique; préparer un dispositif d'analyse comportant un analyseur pourvu d'au moins un processeur, d'au moins un dispositif d'éclairage d'échantillon et d'au moins un capteur d'image; créer une image de l'échantillon à l'aide du dispositif d'analyse; et utiliser le dispositif d'analyse pour transformer l'image en une image transformée ayant une coloration reconnaissable à titre d'échantillon coloré avec un colorant de Wright.
