Abstract:

(EN)A process for preparing an alloy of silver with enhanced whiteness suitable for use in jewellery manufacture, comprising from about 50 to about 97% by weight of silver, from about 0.35 to about 5% by weight germanium, and the remainder being predominantly copper and unavoidable impurities, wherein the amount of germanium included in the alloy is sufficient to impart a significant increase in the whiteness and/or brightness of the alloy as measured using the CIELab colour measurement system, with respect to the a* parameter where the silver content is below 90% by weight, or with respect to the L* parameter where the silver content is 90% by weight or greater, and as compared to an alloy with copper in place of the germanium, and with the same proportion of silver.
(FR)L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation d'un alliage d'argent ayant une blancheur améliorée appropriée pour une utilisation dans la fabrication de bijou, comprenant d'environ 50 à environ 97 % en poids d'argent, d'environ 0,35 à environ 5 % en poids de germanium et le reste étant de façon prédominante du cuivre et des impuretés inévitables, la quantité de germanium comprise dans l'alliage étant suffisante pour conférer une augmentation significative de la blancheur et/ou de la brillance de l'alliage tel que mesuré à l'aide du système de mesure de couleur CIELab, par rapport au paramètre a* où la teneur en argent est au-dessous de 90 % en poids, ou par rapport au paramètre L* où la teneur en argent est de 90 % en poids ou plus, et par comparaison à un alliage avec du cuivre à la place du germanium, et ayant la même proportion d'argent.
