Abstract:
The invention relates to an electronic sextant comprising a triaxial inertial system supplying a signal representing the angle formed by the optical axis of a camera in relation to the local vertical, in the local terrestrial reference frame, a camera associated with a computer controlled by software for identifying celestial bodies, and a clock. Said identification software determines the coordinates of the bodies in the inertial reference of the universe J2000. The sextant comprises a memory wherein the data for determining a transformation matrix are recorded, which allows the star coordinates to be recalculated in the Earth reference frame.
