In the present invention, in an optically active compound production method that uses a column reactor, the column reactor is produced by filling asymmetric catalyst particles in a column for the column reactor, and a compound to be reacted is introduced into the column reactor so that the compound comes into contact with the asymmetric catalyst particles, thereby converting the compound to be reacted into an optically active compound. It is preferable for the asymmetric catalyst particles to be resin particles which are prepared from a monomer composition containing an unsaturated bond-containing proline derivative monomer and a radical polymerization initiator and which act as a catalyst for an enamine mechanism reaction, such as an aldol reaction or Mannich reaction. Particularly preferred asymmetric catalyst particles are resin particles prepared using a microchannel method in which a monomer composition is discharged into a continuous phase, thereby forming liquid droplets of the monomer composition in the continuous phase, and these liquid droplets are then heated so as to subject the unsaturated bond-containing proline derivative monomer to radical polymerization.
