Abstract:
A rotation state detection device is applied to an operation device (1) having a rotating body (10, 101, 102) that is rotated by an input operation force and a support body (20, 201, 202, 203) for rotatably supporting the rotating body. The rotation state detection device is provided with first electrodes (A1 to A8, Ao, Ai, Au, Ad) provided in the rotating body and second electrodes (B1 to B8, Bo, Bi, Bu, Bd) that are provided in the support body and generate capacitance with the first electrodes. The first electrodes and second electrodes are disposed so that the capacitance changes periodically each time the rotating body is rotated by a prescribed angle and so that the capacitance waveform (W, Wa, Wb, Wc) indicating the change in the amount of capacitance is different for the forward rotation and backward rotation of the rotating body. The rotation angle of the rotating body is calculated on the basis of the number of times the capacitance changes periodically, and the rotation direction of the rotating body is determined on the basis of the shape of the capacitance waveform.
