Abstract

A traffic monitoring system and method for mapping traffic speed and density while preserving privacy. The system can include fixed stations that make up a network and mobile probes that are associated with vehicles. The system and method do not gather, store, or transmit any unique or identifying information, and thereby preserves the privacy of members of traffic. The system and method provide real-time traffic density and speed mapping. The system and method can further be integrated with a complementary flood monitoring system and method.

L'invention concerne un système et un procédé de surveillance de circulation permettant de cartographier la vitesse et la densité de la circulation, tout en assurant la confidentialité. Le système selon l'invention comprend des stations fixes constituant un réseau et des sondes mobiles associées à des véhicules. Les système et procédé selon l'invention ne collectent, ne stockent ou ne transmettent pas d'informations d'identification ou d'informations uniques, ce qui garantit le respect de la vie privée des automobilistes. Ces système et procédé permettent d'obtenir une cartographie en temps réel de la densité et de la vitesse de circulation, et ils peuvent également être intégrés à des système et procédé complémentaires de surveillance d'inondations.
