(EN)In order to monitor the received optical signal noise ratio (OSNR) of an optical multilevel modulation signal (which deteriorates as it passes through an optical fiber transmission path) while suppressing the influence of nonlinear noise and ensuring that the data transmission is not interrupted for a long period of time, an optical quality monitor circuit according to the present invention detects consecutive symbols in a received optical multilevel modulation signal and generates quasi-unmodulated light by concatenating these consecutive symbols, and then uses that quasi-unmodulated light to monitor the received OSNR (see fig. 2).
(FR)De manière à surveiller le rapport signal sur bruit optique (OSNR) reçu d'un signal de modulation multiniveau optique (qui subit une détérioration au cours de sa propagation dans un chemin de transmission à fibre optique) tout en supprimant l'influence de bruit non linéaire et en assurant que la transmission de données n'est pas interrompue pendant une longue période de temps, un circuit de surveillance de qualité optique selon la présente invention détecte des symboles consécutifs dans un signal de modulation multiniveau optique reçu et génère de la lumière quasi non modulée par concaténation de ces symboles consécutifs, et utilise ensuite cette lumière quasi non modulée pour surveiller l'OSNR reçu (voir fig. 2).
