Abstract

A method of generating electricity from wave undulations includes the steps of: (a) providing an apparatus 10 having (i) a platform 12, (ii) a reservoir 14, (iii) one or more pumps 16 for pumping ocean water to the reservoir 14, each of the one or more pumps 16 comprising a reciprocating piston, each piston comprising a piston head 22 attached to a floatable base 24, each pump 16 being driven by the action of waves against the floatable base 24, and (iv) one or more electrical generators 26 disposed below the reservoir 14; (b) disposing the platform 12 such that each floatable base 24 floats upon the surface of the ocean, the platform 12 also being disposed at a location where average tidal variations are less than 2 M; (c) pumping water to the reservoir 14; and (d) causing water within the reservoir 14 to flow downwardly to drive the electrical generators 26.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'électricité à partir des ondulations des vagues, qui comprend les étapes consistant à : (a) fournir un appareil (10) qui comporte (i) une plate-forme (12), (ii) un réservoir (14), (iii) une ou plusieurs pompes (16) afin de pomper l'eau de mer dans le réservoir (14), chacune desdites pompes (16) comprenant un piston alternatif, chaque piston comprenant une tête (22) de piston fixée à une base flottante (24), chaque pompe (16) étant actionnée par l'action des vagues sur la base flottante (24), et (iv) un ou plusieurs générateurs électriques (26) disposés au-dessous du réservoir (14) ; (b) disposer la plate-forme (12) de telle sorte que chaque base flottante (24) flotte à la surface de la mer, la plate-forme (12) étant aussi disposée à un endroit où les variations moyennes des marées sont inférieures à 2 m ; (c) pomper de l'eau dans le réservoir (14) ; et (d) faire couler l'eau stockée dans le réservoir (14) vers le bas pour entraîner les générateurs électriques (26).
