Abstract

A diagnostics unit (10) for detecting a noise, vibration, harshness (NVH) type fault observed by a user of a vehicle (90). The diagnostics unit (10) comprising: a stud type attachment means (20) for rigidly attaching the diagnostics unit (10) to a test component (30) of the vehicle (90), for example a transfer case (30). The diagnostics unit (10) also comprises an accelerometer (28a, 28b) for detecting a force of acceleration in at least one axial direction ('X'). A power source (27) is provided within the diagnostics unit (10) along with a Bluetooth® data transmitter (25) for transmitting data gathered by the accelerometer (28a, 28b) of the diagnostics unit (10) to a computing device (50), such as a lap-top disposed within the vehicle (90). The data is analysed by the lap-top (50) to identify which component of the transfer case (30) (for example, gear, chain, bearing) is faulty.

L'invention concerne une unité de diagnostic (10) pour détecter un défaut du type bruit, vibrations et secousses (NVH) observé par un utilisateur d'un véhicule (90). L'unité de diagnostic (10) comprend : un moyen de fixation du type goujon (20) pour fixer rigidement l'unité de diagnostic (10) à un élément d'essai (30) du véhicule (90), par exemple une boîte de transfert (30). L'unité de diagnostic (10) comprend également un accéléromètre (28a, 28b) pour détecter une force d'accélération dans au moins une direction axiale (« X »). Une source d'énergie (27) est placée dans l'unité de diagnostic (10) avec un capture de mesures pour données Bluetooth® (25) pour transmettre des données collectées par l'accéléromètre (28a, 28b) de l'unité de diagnostic (10) à un dispositif informatique (50), tel qu'un ordinateur portable disposé dans le véhicule (90). Les données sont analysées par l'ordinateur portable (50) afin d'identifier quel élément de la boîte de transfert (30) (par exemple, pignon, chaîne, palier) est défectueux.
