System and method for diagnosing brain conditions including evaluating fiber pathways of white matter tracts using a diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) process, tracking the propagation of waves traveling at specific angles to the fiber pathways by performing a 3D magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) process at the same spatial resolution and voxel position as the DTI, analyzing the viscoelastic properties using an inversion having at least nine elastic coefficients, determining the curvature along the pathways, differentiating the spatial-spectral filter twice with respect to arc length along the pathways, and diagnosing a brain condition based on the viscoelastic properties.

La présente invention se rapporte à un système et à un procédé permettant de diagnostiquer des états cérébraux, y compris à évaluer des passages de fibres des tractus de substance blanche à l'aide d'un procédé d'imagerie en tenseur de diffusion (DTI pour Diffusion Tensor Imaging), de suivre la propagation des ondes qui se déplacent selon des angles spécifiques par rapport aux passages de fibres en effectuant un procédé d'élastographie par résonance magnétique (MRE pour Magnetic Resonance Elastography) en 3D à la même résolution spatiale et à la même position des voxels que celles du procédé d'imagerie DTI, à analyser les propriétés viscoélastiques à l'aide d'une inversion qui comporte au moins neuf coefficients élastiques, à déterminer la courbure le long des passages, à différencier deux fois le filtre spatial-spectral par rapport à une longueur d'arc le long des passages, et à diagnostiquer un état cérébral sur la base des propriétés viscoélastiques.
