The invention relates to a method and a nitrification system (1) for nitrifying a centrate stream (14) produced by dewatering sludge within a wastewater treatment facility. The centrate stream (14) is fed into a nitrification reactor (24) containing accumulated centrate (26) and a bacterial population of AOB and NOB nitrifying bacteria, which turn the ammonia content within the centrate stream (14) into nitrates. Using an oxygen injection device (34), an oxygen containing gas is introduced into the accumulated centrate (26) to support bacterial activity of the AOB and NOB nitrifying bacteria, and the dissolved oxygen concentration is maintained at a value higher than 3 mg/l. Additionally, the invention relates to a conditioning method in which the bacterial population is grown within the nitrification reactor in conditioning stages that involve the introduction of incoming centrate into the reactor with a successively decreasing degree of dilution.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un système de nitrification (1) permettant de nitrifier un flux de centrifugat (14) produit par la déshydratation des boues dans une structure de traitement des eaux usées. Le flux de centrifugat (14) est introduit dans un réacteur (24) de nitrification contenant un centrifugat cumulé (26) et une population de bactéries ammonium oxydantes (AOB) et de bactéries nitrifiantes oxydantes (NOB), qui tranforme en nitrates, le contenu ammonium présent dans le flux de centrifugat (14). Au moyen d'un dispositif d'injection d'oxygène (34), un gaz contenant de l'oxygène est introduit dans le centrifugat cumulé (26) pour soutenir l'activité des bactéries nitrifiantes AOB et NOB, et la concentration d'oxygène dissous est maintenue à une valeur supérieure à 3 mg/l. L'invention concerne également un procédé de conditionnement dans lequel la population bactérienne se développe à l'intérieur du réacteur de nitrification avec des étapes de conditionnement consistant à introduire dans le réacteur, le centrifugat entrant, avec un degré de dilution qui décroît progressivement.
