Abstract

A method and a device for providing for sharing encoder resources in an MCU without compromising with image quality and bandwidth adaption is provided. The method and device comprises dynamic allocation of encoders in a multi-party video conference of a number of endpoints, wherein the video conference endpoints are adapted to encode and transmit a media stream comprising the steps of creating a new encoder at a request for a new pad, determining whether a maximum number of encoders is reached, if the maximum number of encoders is not reached, then linking the new pad to the new encoder, if the maximum number of encoders is reached, then linking all existing pads to the new encoder, and releasing all unused encoders.

La présente invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif destinés à fournir des ressources de codeurs partagées dans une MCU sans compromettre la qualité d'image et l'adaptation de largeur de bande. Le procédé et le dispositif comprennent l'attribution dynamique de codeurs dans une conférence vidéo multi-partite d'un certain nombre de points d'extrémité, lesdits points d'extrémité de conférence vidéo étant conçus pour coder et transmettre un flux multimédia comprenant les étapes consistant à créer un nouveau codeur suite à une demande de nouvelle plate-forme, à déterminer si le nombre maximum de codeurs est atteint, à relier, si le nombre maximum de codeurs n'est pas atteint, la nouvelle plate-forme au nouveau codeur, à relier ensuite, si le nombre maximum de codeurs est atteint, toutes les plates-formes existantes au nouveau codeur, et à libérer tous les codeurs inutilisés.
