The effective aperture of an ultrasound imaging probe can be increased by including more than one transducer array and using the transducer elements of all of the arrays to render an image can greatly improve the lateral resolution of the generated image. In order to render an image, the relative positions of all of the elements must be known precisely. Systems and methods for accurately calibrating and adjusting a multi-aperture ultrasound system are disclosed. The relative positions of the transducer elements can be computed and aligned prior to and during probe assembly.

Selon l'invention, l'ouverture efficace d'une sonde de réalisation d'image à ultrasons peut être accrue par le fait d'inclure plus d'un groupement de transducteurs et par l'utilisation des éléments transducteurs de tous les groupements de façon à rendre une image, ce qui peut améliorer considérablement la définition latérale de l'image générée. Pour rendre une image, les positions relatives de tous les éléments doivent être connues avec précision. A cet effet, l'invention porte sur des systèmes et sur des procédés pour étalonner et régler avec précision un système à ultrasons à ouvertures multiples. Les positions relatives des éléments transducteurs peuvent être calculées et alignées avant et pendant l'assemblage de la sonde.
