A method and device for monitoring a fetal heart rate includes a reference fetal heart rate detected across an ultrasound depth zone of sensitivity. The ultrasound depth zone of sensitivity is scanned in overlapping increments of a first depth. An average fetal heart rate detected for each overlapping increment is tested for a coincidence with the reference fetal heart rate. Overlapping increments with the coincidence and a maximized signal quality rate are identified. An ultrasound depth increment of a second depth is selected representing the selected adjacent increments. Fetal heart rate is determined from an ultrasound signal returned from a scan depth of the second depth.

La présente invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif pour surveiller une fréquence cardiaque fœtale qui comprennent une fréquence cardiaque fœtale de référence détectée dans une zone de sensibilité échographique en profondeur. La zone de sensibilité échographique en profondeur est balayée par incréments chevauchants d’une première profondeur. Une fréquence cardiaque fœtale moyenne détectée pour chaque incrément chevauchant est testée pour une coïncidence avec la fréquence cardiaque fœtale de référence. Les incréments chevauchants avec la coïncidence et un taux de qualité de signal maximisé sont identifiés. Un incrément échographique en profondeur d’une deuxième profondeur est sélectionné représentant les incréments adjacents sélectionnés. La fréquence cardiaque fœtale est déterminée à partir d’un signal échographique retourné depuis une profondeur de balayage de la deuxième profondeur.
