Abstract

Authentication systems and methods for a population of devices each associated with an RFID tag are described. For each device, a secret key is combined cryptographically with a publicly-readable unique identifier (UID) of an RFID tag to obtain a unique authorization signature. The RFID tag is prepared utilizing the unique authorization signature as memory-access and/or tag-operation password(s). The systems and methods may safeguard against attacks whereby compromise of a single tag will not compromise the entire population of devices and may reduce or eliminate the use of inappropriate surgical devices during a surgical procedure.

L’invention concerne des systèmes et procédés d'authentification pour une population de dispositifs, chacun étant associé à une étiquette d'identification radiofréquence (RFID). Pour chaque dispositif, une clé secrète est combinée par cryptographie à un identifiant unique (UID) publiquement lisible d'une étiquette RFID afin d'obtenir une signature d'autorisation unique. L'étiquette RFID est préparée en employant la signature d'autorisation unique en tant que mot(s) de passe pour accéder à la mémoire et/ou exploiter les étiquettes. Les systèmes et procédés peuvent protéger contre des attaques, où la compromission d'une seule étiquette ne compromettra pas la population entière de dispositifs, et peuvent réduire ou éliminer l'utilisation de dispositifs chirurgicaux inappropriés au cours d'une procédure chirurgicale.
