An alert peripheral device that provides sensory notification to a user of the device includes: a power subsystem; a communication mechanism by which notification signals is received from a first user equipment (UE) that generates and transmits the notification signals in response to detection of specific events at the first UE; and a response notification mechanism that provides a sensory response of the peripheral device following receipt of a notification of a detected event (NDE) signal. The device further includes an embedded controller coupled to each of the other components and which includes firmware that when executed on the embedded controller configures the embedded controller to: establish a communication link between the communication mechanism and the first UE; and in response to detecting a receipt of the NDE signal from the first UE, trigger the response notification mechanism to exhibit the sensory response.

L'invention concerne un dispositif périphérique d'alerte qui fournit une notification sensorielle à un utilisateur du dispositif et comprend : un sous-système d'alimentation ; un mécanisme de communication par lequel des signaux de notification sont reçus en provenance d'un premier équipement utilisateur (UE) qui génère et émet les signaux de notification en réponse à la détection d'évènements spécifiques au niveau du premier UE ; et un mécanisme de notification de réponse qui fournit une réponse sensorielle du dispositif périphérique suivant la réception d'un signal de notification d'un évènement détecté (NDE). Le dispositif comprend en outre un contrôleur embarqué couplé à chacun des autres composants et qui comprend un micrologiciel qui, lorsqu'il est exécuté sur le contrôleur embarqué, configure le contrôleur embarqué pour : établir une liaison de communication entre le mécanisme de communication et le premier UE ; et en réponse à la détection d'une réception du signal NDE en provenance du premier UE, amener le mécanisme de notification de réponse à présenter la réponse sensorielle.
