The present invention is related to a process and apparatus for manufacturing tyres for vehicle wheels. At least one of the components of the green tyre (100) is formed by supplying an elongated element (14) made of elastomeric material along a feed path. A piece (57) is cut from a head section of the elongated element (14), advanced on a conveyor (11 b) up to a forming drum (3) and deposited on a radially outer surface (3a) of the forming drum (3). The cutting comprises: depositing, between an abutment surface (32) and a coupling surface (42, 46) that are opposite each other, each of two portions (T, H) of the elongated element (14) situated on opposite sides of a transverse cutting line (S); cutting the elongated element (14) along such transverse cutting line (S) while the two portions (T, H) are arranged between said abutmenht surface (32) and said coupling surface (42,46).

La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil de fabrication de pneus pour des roues de véhicule. Au moins l'un des éléments constitutifs du pneu cru (100) est formé par la fourniture d'un élément allongé (14) composé d'un matériau élastomère le long d'un trajet d'alimentation. Une pièce (57) est coupée d'une section de tête de l'élément allongé (14), avancée sur un transporteur (11b) jusqu'à un tambour de formation (3) et déposée sur une surface radialement externe (3a) du tambour de formation (3). La coupe consiste : à déposer, entre une surface de butée (32) et une surface d'accouplement (42, 46) qui sont opposées l'une à l'autre, chacune des deux parties (T, H) de l'élément allongé (14) situées sur des côtés opposés d'une ligne de coupe transversale (S); et à couper l'élément allongé (14) le long de ladite ligne de coupe transversale (S) alors que les deux parties (T, H) sont disposées entre ladite surface de butée (32) et ladite surface d'accouplement (42, 46).
