Provided is an imaging device which gives consideration to factors having a possibility of impacting operation thereof and the like, and is equipped with: a first unit (10b) having a first communication unit (11) for transmitting image data captured by an imaging element (12), and a first image processing unit (14) for image-processing the image data; a second unit (100b) capable of transitioning between states of integration with the first unit and separation from the first unit, and having a second communication unit (101) for receiving image data transmitted by the first communication unit, and a second image processing unit (104)for image-processing the image data; and a selection unit (11) for selecting the first imaging processing unit or the second image processing unit when at least the first unit and the second unit are separated from one another.
