Abstract
(EN) The invention relates generally to methods for determining the likelihood that targeted somatic mutagenesis of a nucleic acid molecule by a mutagenic agent has occurred, and the likelihood that a mutagenic agent is a cause of targeted somatic mutagenesis of a nucleic acid molecule. The invention further relates to methods for diagnosing cancer in a subject and/or determining the likelihood that a subject has or will develop cancer, and methods for treating subjects diagnosed with cancer or determined to be likely to have or to develop cancer. In further aspects, the invention relates to methods for identifying motifs in nucleic acid molecules that are recognized or targeted by mutagenic agents.
(FR) La présente invention concerne de façon générale des procédés permettant de déterminer la probabilité d'apparition d'une mutagenèse somatique ciblée d'une molécule d'acide nucléique due à un mutagène, et la probabilité qu'un mutagène soit une cause de mutagenèse somatique ciblée d'une molécule d'acide nucléique. L'invention concerne en outre des procédés permettant de diagnostiquer un cancer chez un sujet et/ou de déterminer la probabilité qu'un sujet présente ou développera un cancer, ainsi que des procédés permettant de traiter des sujets atteints d'un cancer ou déterminés comme susceptibles de présenter ou développer un cancer. Dans d'autres aspects, l'invention concerne des procédés permettant d'identifier des motifs dans des molécules d'acide nucléique reconnus ou ciblés par des mutagènes.
