The present invention improves the initial restraint performance of a side airbag with respect to a passenger. In this structure (10) for controlling the deployment direction of a side airbag, an airbag module (38) is disposed outwards of a door-side side-frame part (16A) with respect to the widthwise direction of the vehicle. When a side airbag with which said airbag module (38) is provided deploys, a sewn seam (30) between a front section (22) and a side-front section (24) of a seat surface material (20) ruptures due to pressure from the expanding side airbag. This forms an opening that allows the side airbag to deploy towards the outside of a seat back (14). The aforementioned sewn seam (30) is provided inwards of the airbag module (38) with respect to the widthwise direction of the seat. As a result, the side airbag, which deploys towards the outside of the seat back (14) from the opening formed by the rupture of the sewn seam (30), deploys towards the front of the vehicle and towards the widthwise center of the vehicle (towards the passenger).

La présente invention améliore l'efficacité de retenue initiale d'un coussin de sécurité gonflable latéral par rapport à un passager. A cet effet, l'invention porte sur une structure (10) pour commander la direction de déploiement d'un coussin de sécurité gonflable latéral, dans laquelle un module de coussin de sécurité gonflable (38) est disposé vers l'extérieur d'une partie de cadre latéral côté porte (16A) par rapport à la direction de la largeur du véhicule. Lorsqu'un coussin de sécurité gonflable latéral, dont est muni ledit module de coussin de sécurité gonflable (38), se déploie, un raccord cousu (30) entre une section avant (22) et une section avant latérale (24) d'un matériau de surface de siège (20) se rompt du fait de la pression provenant du coussin de sécurité gonflable latéral en expansion. Ceci forme une ouverture qui permet au coussin de sécurité gonflable latéral de se déployer vers l'extérieur d'un dossier de siège (14). Le raccord cousu précédemment mentionné (30) est disposé à l'intérieur du module de coussin de sécurité gonflable (38) par rapport à la direction de la largeur du siège.
