Abstract

A process for making styrene including providing a C1 source to a reactor containing a catalyst and reacting toluene with the C1 source in the presence of the catalyst to form a product stream comprising ethylbenzene and styrene. The C1 source can be selected from the group of methanol, formaldehyde, formalin, trioxane, methylformcel, paraformaldehyde, methylal, dimethyl ether, and combinations thereof, and wherein the catalyst contains a nitrogen- substituted zeolite.

L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation de styrène qui comprend la fourniture d'une source de C1 à un réacteur contenant un catalyseur, et la réaction du toluène avec la source de C1 en présence du catalyseur afin de former un flux de produit contenant de l'éthylbenzène et du styrène. La source de C1 peut être choisie dans le groupe contenant méthanol, formaldéhyde, formaline, trioxane, méthylformcel, paraformaldéhyde, méthylal, diméthyléther, et des combinaisons de ceux-ci, le catalyseur contenant une zéolite à substitution azote.
