Abstract:
In an embodiment of the present invention a vehicle air conditioner (1) is equipped with a first cycle (10) and a second cycle (20) which function as a heat pump device. The first cycle is equipped with an earlier-stage compressor (13) and a later-stage compressor (14). The second cycle is equipped with an earlier-stage compressor (23) and a later-stage compressor (24). During a heating operation the cycles (10, 20) are operated as a multi-stage compression cycle, and during a defrosting operation the cycles (10, 20) are operated as single-stage compression cycles. When a defrosting operation is executed for one of the cycles a control device (6) executes a heating operation for the other of the cycles. The control device controls the cycles (10, 20) such that the defrosting operation for the first cycle and the defrosting operation for the second cycle are not executed simultaneously. Therefore, a decrease in heating capacity due to the defrosting operation can be prevented, and high heating performance and suitable defrosting performance can be obtained. Thus, it is possible to prevent variations in the amount of heat supplied, even when defrosting is performed.
