Abstract:
(EN) Heterogeneous network management as discussed in the third generation partnership project (3GPP) technical report (TR) 32.835, ver.0.0.3, groups individual network elements according to their importance as either active or passive. When active, the network element generates management data and when passive, the network element passively waits to be polled by a network manager. However, the static, manual allocation of network elements to the groups with similar importance characteristics to be managed by corresponding "active" / "passive" policies does not take into account variations in the level of traffic load, for example, a cell may be located in a shopping mall, which is heavily loaded during day time and idle during night time, or a cell may be located in a business center heavily loaded on weekdays and idle on weekends, and so forth. The binary, active/passive, management policies do not allow flexibility of control over the amount of generated management data. This problem is solved in that a group of network elements may be given certain probability p of performance management reporting as a configuration parameter (210). At the end of a performance management reporting interval, each network element within the group can generate a random number (230) and compare it with configured probability p (240). When the random number exceeds the probability threshold p, the network element will actively report the collected measurements (250). When the random number is below the threshold p, the network element will not report the collected measurements but will rather store them for a predefined amount of time for potential retrieval by the manager (260). Furthermore, rather than performing the above mentioned allocation manually, the application proposes some sort of self-allocation whereby an operator specifies a set of key performance indicators (KPIs) and sets their thresholds as criteria for automatically allocating a network element to a particular management group, managed by a common policy. One example of a KPI is the amount of carried traffic.
(FR) D'une façon générale, les réseaux de communication peuvent tirer profit d'une gestion appropriée basée sur des règles. De façon plus spécifique, des réseaux hétérogènes, ou HetNets, peuvent tirer profit de procédés de gestion basée sur des règles. Dans certains modes de réalisation, la présente invention se rapporte à un procédé pouvant consister à détecter un événement pouvant être rapporté. Le procédé selon l'invention peut consister d'autre part à déterminer s'il faut, ou non, rapporter l'événement, sur la base d'un critère de probabilité, ou comment rapporter ledit événement. Le procédé peut consister par ailleurs à prendre une décision relative au reporting de l'événement en se basant sur le fait que le critère de probabilité est rempli, ou non.
