Abstract

A composition includes specific amounts of poly(phenylene ether), polymerized styrene residue, and polymerized acrylonitrile residue. The composition can be prepared using a recycled homopolystyrene that includes an acrylonitrile copolymer as an impurity. The composition largely preserves the desirable properties of a corresponding composition prepared from virgin resins without requiring chemical compatibilization of the poly(phenylene ether) and the acrylonitrile copolymer.

L'invention porte sur une composition comprenant des quantités particulières de poly(oxyde de phénylène), de résidus de styrène polymérisés et de résidus d'acrylonitrile polymérisés. La composition peut être préparée à l'aide d'un homopolystyrène recyclé qui comprend un copolymère de l'acrylonitrile en tant qu'impureté. La composition conserve en grande partie les propriétés souhaitables d'une composition correspondante préparée à partir de résines vierges sans nécessiter de compatibilisation chimique du poly(oxyde de phénylène) et du copolymère de l'acrylonitrile.
