Abstract:
(EN) Methods of capturing or sequestering carbon include introducing a reaction gas stream to a catalytic converter to convert a portion of the carbon in the carbon oxide to solid carbon and a tail gas stream containing water vapor, removing the solid carbon from the catalytic converter for use, disposal, or storage, and recycling at least a portion of the tail gas stream to the catalytic converter. Methods may also include removing a portion of the water from the tail gas stream. The tail gas stream includes a portion of the initial process gas stream and at least a portion of water vapor produced in the catalytic converter. Methods may also include removing water vapor from various streams and reacting the carbon oxide with a reducing agent in the presence of a catalyst. Systems for capturing or sequestering carbon from a gaseous source containing carbon oxides are also described.
(FR) La présente invention concerne des procédés de capture et de séquestration de carbone consistant à introduire un courant de gaz réactionnel dans un convertisseur catalytique pour convertir une partie du carbone dans l'oxyde de carbone en carbone solide et en courant de gaz résiduaire contenant de la vapeur d'eau, à extraire le carbone solide du convertisseur catalytique en vue de son utilisation, de sa mise au rebut ou de son stockage, et à recycler au moins une partie du courant de gaz résiduaire vers le convertisseur catalytique. Les procédés peuvent également consister à éliminer une partie de l'eau du courant de gaz résiduaire. Le courant de gaz résiduaire comprend une partie du courant gazeux du processus initial et au moins une partie de la vapeur d'eau produite dans le convertisseur catalytique. Les procédés peuvent également consister à éliminer la vapeur d'eau de divers courants et à faire réagir l'oxyde de carbone avec un réducteur en présence d'un catalyseur. L'invention concerne également des systèmes pour capturer ou séquestrer le carbone issu d'une source gazeuse contenant des oxydes de carbone.
