A two-stage reaction process includes reacting gaseous carbon dioxide with a reducing agent to form carbon monoxide and water. At least a portion of the water is condensed to form a dry tail gas. The dry tail gas, with the possible addition of a reducing agent, reacts to convert at least a portion of the carbon monoxide to solid carbon and water. Other methods include reacting a feed gas mixture to form a reaction mixture, condensing water from the reaction mixture to form a dried reaction mixture, mixing the dried reaction mixture with a recirculating gas to form a catalytic converter feed gas mixture, flowing the catalytic converter feed gas mixture through a catalytic converter to form solid carbon and a tail gas mixture containing water, and flowing the tail gas mixture through a heat exchanger.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de réaction en deux étapes consistant à faire réagir du dioxyde de carbone gazeux avec un réducteur pour former du monoxyde de carbone et de l'eau. Au moins une partie de l'eau est condensée pour former un gaz résiduaire sec. Le gaz résiduaire sec, avec l'adjonction possible d'un réducteur, réagit pour convertir au moins une partie du monoxyde de carbone en carbone solide et en eau. D'autres procédés consistent à faire réagir un mélange gazeux d'alimentation pour former un mélange réactionnel, à condenser l'eau issue du mélange réactionnel pour former un mélange réactionnel sec, à mélanger le mélange réactionnel sec avec un gaz de recirculation pour former un mélange gazeux de charge de convertisseur catalytique, à faire circuler le mélange gazeux de charge de convertisseur catalytique à travers un convertisseur catalytique pour former du carbone solide et un mélange de gaz résiduaire contenant de l'eau, et à faire circuler le gaz résiduaire à travers un échangeur thermique.
