Abstract:
(EN) A device and method for preventing and removing carbon deposit build-up on a piston/cylinder assembly of an engine, including a diesel engine, is disclosed. The device includes a cylinder having an inner sleeve for receiving a piston, a carbon scraping ring positioned on the cylinder sleeve, the carbon scraping ring including an inner surface, and an abradable coating applied to the inner surface of the carbon scraping ring providing a wearable surface between the piston and the cylinder sleeve. The abradable coating has a wearable surface, which conforms to the shape created by the movement of the piston and the cylinder sleeve and carbon scraping ring, creating a substantially zero clearance fit between the piston and the carbon scraping ring. The clearance may reduce oil consumption and improve sealing of the cylinder and piston, thereby reducing blow-by.
(FR) L'invention concerne un dispositif et un procédé pour empêcher et éliminer l'accumulation de dépôts de carbone dans un assemblage piston/cylindre d'un moteur, y compris un moteur diesel. Le dispositif comprend un cylindre possédant une chemise interne destinée à recevoir un piston, un anneau de raclage de carbone placé contre la chemise de cylindre, l'anneau de raclage de carbone comprenant une surface interne, et un revêtement abradable appliqué à la surface interne de la bague de raclage de carbone formant une surface d'usure entre le piston et la chemise de cylindre. Le revêtement abradable possède une surface d'usure qui se conforme à la forme créée par le mouvement du piston et la chemise de cylindre et l'anneau de raclage de carbone, ce qui crée un ajustement à jeu sensiblement nul entre le piston et la bague de raclage de carbone. Le jeu peut réduire la consommation d'huile et améliorer l'étanchéité du cylindre et piston, ce qui permet de réduire la fuite de gaz.
