Abstract:
The present invention relates to a recombinant microorganism having a kaurene, kaurenoic acid or steviol producing ability, steviol being a precursor of stevioside, as well as to a method for preparing kaurene, kaurenoic acid or steviol using the recombinant microorganism. According to the present invention, the mass production of kaurene, kaurenoic acid or steviol, which is a precursor of the natural sweetener stevioside, is enabled just by a simple process of modulating a metabolic pathway using the recombinant gene introduced to the microorganism rather than by the direct separation from a stevia extract.
