Abstract:
The present technology relates to a semiconductor photodetection device and a radiation detection apparatus, whereby time resolution of photodetection can be improved, and radiation energy discrimination and photon counting are made possible. This radiation detection apparatus has a scintillator, a radiation detecting unit, and an exposure period adjusting unit. When radiation is inputted, the scintillator generates scintillation light having light intensity corresponding to radiation energy, and supplies photons of the scintillation light to a plurality of pixels, respectively. Every time the pixels are exposed for an exposure period to the scintillation light, the radiation detecting unit detects, on the basis of the number of photons supplied within the exposure period, whether radiation is inputted or not. An exposure period adjusting unit adjusts the exposure period on the basis of input frequency of the detected radiation.
