Abstract

A system for producing hydrocarbons and sand from a formation includes a wellbore having a substantially horizontal portion. In addition, the system includes a liner (16) disposed in the substantially horizontal portion. The liner has a longitudinal axis and includes a plurality of slots. Each slot is configured to pass sand from the formation into the wellbore. Further, the system includes a production string extending through the wellbore. Still further, the system includes a pump (18) disposed at a downhole end of the production string in the liner. The pump has a central axis, an outlet coupled to the downhole end of the production tubing, and an inlet distal the production string. The pump is configured to pump hydrocarbons and sand from the formation to the surface. The central axis of the pump is oriented at an angle a measured downward from vertical. The angle a is between 60° and 90°.

La présente invention concerne un système de production d'hydrocarbures et de sable à partir d'une formation souterraine comprenant un puits comportant une partie essentiellement horizontale. Le système comprend, en outre, un chemisage disposé dans la partie essentiellement horizontale. Ledit chemisage présente un axe longitudinal et comporte une pluralité de fentes. Chaque fente est conçue pour laisser passer le sable en provenance de la formation souterraine en direction du puits. Le système comprend également une colonne de production se prolongeant à travers le puits. Le système comprend, par ailleurs, une pompe disposée au niveau de l'extrémité située en fond de puits de la colonne de production dans le chemisage. Ladite pompe présente un axe central, un orifice de sortie raccordé à l'extrémité de fond de puits de la colonne de production et un orifice d'entrée distal par rapport à la colonne de production. La pompe est conçue pour pomper les hydrocarbures et le sable depuis la formation souterraine et jusqu'à la surface. L'axe central de la pompe est orienté selon un angle α mesuré vers le bas depuis la verticale. Ledit angle peut varier de 60 à 90°.
