Abstract:
(EN) A method for creating a foam from a solid thermoplastic material is disclosed. The method includes heating a solid, noncellular thermoplastic material to a temperature greater than the material's glass transition temperature, and below the melting temperature, and then allowing the material to cool; after the material has cooled, saturating the cooled thermoplastic material with a non-reacting gas to provide a gas-saturated material; and heating the gas-saturated material below the melting temperature of the material so that the material remains a solid, and causes nucleation of bubbles, and creation of cells in the material.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé de génération d'une mousse à partir d'un matériau thermoplastique solide. Le procédé comprend le chauffage d'un matériau thermoplastique, non cellulaire, solide, à une température supérieure à la température de transition vitreuse du matériau et inférieure à la température de fusion puis on laisse le matériau refroidir; après le refroidissement du matériau, la saturation du matériau thermoplastique refroidi par un gaz non réactif pour obtenir un matériau saturé en gaz; et le chauffage du matériau saturé en gaz sous la température de fusion du matériau, de sorte que le matériau reste solide et provoque la nucléation de bulles et la génération de cellules dans le matériau.
