Graphene can be produced from the byproducts formed during electrolysis of coal. These byproducts may be electrolyzed coal particles, gelatinous film formed on the electrolyzed coal particles, or the electrolyzed coal particles together with the gelatinous film. The electrolyzed coal byproduct is deposited as a thin layer onto a surface, or carrier substrate 50, which is heated to a temperature effective to form graphite while a reductant gas, such as hydrogen, flows over the heated coal product. The reductant gas flow carries the carbon particles and deposits them onto a surface 66, forming a layer of graphene thereon.

Cette invention concerne un procédé de fabrication du graphène à partir de sous-produits formés pendant l'électrolyse du charbon. Ces sous-produits peuvent être des particules de charbon électrolysé, une pellicule gélatineuse recouvrant les particules de charbon électrolysé, ou les particules de charbon électrolysé combinées avec la pellicule gélatineuse. Le sous-produit de charbon électrolysé se dépose en couche mince sur une surface, ou substrat-support 50, qui est chauffé à une température efficace pour former du graphite alors qu'un gaz réducteur, par exemple l'hydrogène, circule au-dessus du charbon chauffé. Le gaz réducteur transporte les particules de carbone et les dépose sur une surface 66, formant alors une couche de graphène.
