A process and system for reducing the viscosity of heavy and extra heavy crude oils, and more particularly to a process for reducing the viscosity of heavy and extra heavy crude oils by means of total or partial oil deasphalting using a precipitating agent in order to obtain an upgraded crude oil of lower viscosity that can be pumped without the use of diluents. The upgrading also includes a reduction in metals and sulfur associated with asphaltene removal. The process consists of relatively simple equipment such as static mixers and stirred tanks and operation temperature is low and pressure is moderate.

La présente invention se rapporte à un procédé et à un système permettant de réduire la viscosité du pétrole brut lourd et extra lourd, et particulièrement à un procédé permettant de réduire la viscosité du pétrole brut lourd et extra lourd au moyen d'un désasphaltage total ou partiel du pétrole à l'aide d'un agent de précipitation afin d'obtenir du pétrole brut valorisé ayant une viscosité plus faible qui peut être pompé sans utiliser de diluants. La valorisation comprend également une réduction des métaux et du soufre, associée à l'élimination de l'asphaltène. Le procédé se compose d'un équipement relativement simple, tels que des mélangeurs statiques et des cuves agitées, la température de fonctionnement est basse et la pression est modérée.
