Abstract:

(EN)A method of electrostimulation of a group of one or more target muscles of a subject is provided, the method comprising in a first step applying to the subject an electrical pulse having a duration of at least 0.5 milliseconds and an intensity below that effective in stimulating contraction of the target muscles of the subject; and in a second step applying one or more electrical pulses at an intensity sufficient to stimulate contraction of the target muscles of the subject. An apparatus for the electrostimulation of the muscles of a subject is also provided, the apparatus comprising a generator for generating a plurality of electrical pulses; means for applying the electrical pulses to the subject to induce contraction of at least one muscle of the subject; wherein the generator is operable in a first step to apply to the subject a conditioning electrical pulse having a duration of at least 0.5 milliseconds and an intensity below that effective in stimulating contraction of the target muscles of the subject; and in a second step to apply to the subject one or more stimulating electrical pulses at an intensity sufficient to stimulate contraction of the target muscles of the subject.
(FR)La présente invention concerne un procédé d'électrostimulation d'un groupe d'un ou plusieurs muscles cible d'un sujet, le procédé comprenant une première étape consistant à appliquer au sujet une impulsion électrique ayant une durée d'au moins 0,5 millisecondes et une intensité inférieure à celle efficace pour stimuler la contraction des muscles cible du sujet ; et une seconde étape consistant à appliquer une ou plusieurs impulsions électriques à une intensité suffisante pour stimuler la contraction des muscles cible du sujet. La présente invention concerne également un appareil d'électrostimulation des muscles d'un sujet, l'appareil comprenant un générateur destiné à générer une pluralité d'impulsions électriques ; un moyen destiné à appliquer les impulsions électriques au sujet pour induire la contraction d'au moins un muscle du sujet ; le générateur étant apte à fonctionner dans une première étape pour appliquer au sujet une impulsion électrique de conditionnement ayant une durée d'au moins 0,5 millisecondes et une intensité inférieure à celle efficace pour stimuler la contraction des muscles cible du sujet ; et dans une seconde étape pour appliquer au sujet une ou plusieurs impulsions électrique de stimulation à une intensité suffisante pour stimuler la contraction des muscles cible du sujet.
