There is described subsea cooling apparatus and a method of cooling a fluid subsea. In an embodiment, a well stream fluid is received in a conduit. An outer surface of the conduit may be exposed to the sea upon deployment of the apparatus subsea, for transfer of heat from said fluid to said region of the sea across the cooling surface. Sea water may then be electrolysed in said region of the sea to produce an electrolysis product to electrolytically protect said cooling surface,with the cooling surface forming an electrode for performing the electrolysis.

L'invention concerne un appareil de refroidissement sous-marin et procédé de refroidissement d'un fluide en milieu sous-marin. Dans un mode de réalisation, un fluide de flux de puits est reçu dans un conduit. Une surface extérieure du conduit peut être exposée à la mer lors du déploiement de l'appareil sous-marin, pour le transfert de chaleur depuis ledit fluide vers ladite région de la mer à travers la surface de refroidissement. L'eau de mer peut ensuite être électrolysée dans ladite région de la mer pour produire un produit d'électrolyse afin de protéger de manière électrolytique ladite surface de refroidissement, la surface de refroidissement formant une électrode pour réaliser l'électrolyse.
