Abstract
(EN) A series of ligands with site specific electron donating substituents that form a catalyst complex with a transition metal and are suitable for catalysis of atom transfer radical reactions, including ATRP are described. Faster catalysis rates were observed allowing for low catalyst concentrations and linear increases in molecular weight with monomer conversion, and narrow molecular weight distributions. Cyclic voltammetry revealed that increasing the strength and number of conjugated electron donating groups resulted in more stable complexes and larger ATRP equilibrium constants.
(FR) L'invention concerne une série de ligands ayant des substituants donneurs d'électrons spécifiques d'un site qui forment un complexe de catalyseurs avec un métal de transition et qui sont appropriés pour la catalyse de réactions radicalaires de transfert atomique, comprenant ATRP. Des vitesses de catalyse plus rapides ont été observées, permettant des concentrations en catalyseur et des augmentations linéaires du poids moléculaire avec une conversion en monomère faibles, et des distributions étroites de poids moléculaire. La voltampérométrie cyclique a révélé que l'augmentation de la force et du nombre de groupes donneurs d'électrons conjugués a conduit à des complexes plus stables et à des constantes d'équilibre ATRP plus grandes.
