Abstract:
Provided is an engine combustion chamber structure with which the thermal efficiency of the engine can be improved and fuel consumption can be improved. Also provided is an inner wall structure for a flow path through which the engine intake gas or exhaust gas flows. The engine combustion chamber structure is equipped with a heat-insulating member (1) that contains: a heat-insulating layer (3) formed on the surface of an engine structural member (21) that forms the engine combustion chamber; and a surface compact layer (2) formed on the surface of the heat-insulating layer (3). The heat-insulating layer (3) contains ceramics and/or glass, has 10-500 nm air holes, and has a porosity of 10-99%, and the compact layer (2) contains ceramics and/or glass and has a porosity of 5% or less.
