Abstract:
(EN) A containment case comprises a composite core, with an inner and outer surface, at least one puncture resistant layer bonded to the inner surface of the composite core and at least one energy capture layer bonded to the outer surface of the composite core. The puncture resistant layer having a high through-thickness shear strength and high interlaminar toughness at impact. The energy capture layer having a high in-plane tensile strength and low resistance to delamination and fiber-matrix debonding at impact. A method of fabricating a containment case includes the steps of disposing one or more layers of a puncture resistant material on a layup mandrel, disposing one more layers of a structural composite material on an exterior surface of the puncture resistant material, disposing one or more layers of an energy capture material on an exterior surface of the structural material and curing a resin in the plurality of layers.
(FR) L'invention porte sur une enceinte de confinement, laquelle enceinte comprend une partie centrale composite, munie d'une surface interne et externe, au moins une couche résistant au perçage liée à la surface interne de la partie centrale composite et au moins une couche de capture d'énergie liée à la surface externe de la partie centrale composite. La couche résistant au perçage a une résistance au cisaillement à travers l'épaisseur élevée et une dureté inter-laminaire élevée à l'impact. La couche de capture d'énergie a une résistance à la traction dans le plan élevée et une faible résistance à la déstratification et au décollage de matrice de fibres à l'impact. L'invention porte également sur un procédé de fabrication d'une enceinte de confinement, lequel procédé comprend les étapes de disposition d'une ou de plusieurs couches d'un matériau résistant au perçage sur un mandrin de déposition, de disposition d'une ou de plusieurs couches d'un matériau composite structurel sur une surface externe du matériau résistant au perçage, de disposition d'une ou de plusieurs couches d'un matériau de capture d'énergie sur une surface externe du matériau structurel et de durcissement d'une résine dans la pluralité de couches.
