Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide an active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell of high discharge capacity and excellent output capability in the low SOC range. The active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte contains a lithium-transition metal complex oxide having an α-NaFeO2 type crystal structure and represented by the compositional formula Li1+αMe1-αO2 (Me is a transition metal element including Mn, Ni, and Co, 0 < α < 1), where 1.250 ≤ (1+α)/(1-α) ≤ 1.425, and is characterized in that in X-ray diffraction analysis using a CuKα tube, the half-width of the 2θ = 18.6º ± 1º diffraction peak is 0.20º-0.27º and/or the half-width of the 2θ = 44.1º ± 1º diffraction peak is 0.26º-0.39º, and when electrochemically oxidized to a potential of 5.0 V (vs. Li/Li+), the active material is observed as a single phase attributed to hexagonal crystals (space group R3-m) on the X-ray diffraction diagram.
