(EN)The present invention relates to novel alpha-hydrogen substituted nitroxyl compounds and their corresponding oxidized (oxoammonium cations) and reduced (hydroxylamine) forms, and to the use of such compounds, inter alia, for (1) oxidation of primary and secondary alcohols to aldehydes and ketones, respectively; (2) resolution of racemic alcohols; (3) desymmetrization of meso-alcohol; (4) as radicals and spin trapping reagents; and (5) as polymerization agents. The present invention further relates to processes for preparing the novel nitroxyl/oxoammonium/ hydroxylamine compounds from the corresponding amines, and to certain novel amine derivatives and their uses. The compounds of the invention as well as the amine precursors are also useful as ligands for transition metals and as organocatalysts in e.g., aldol reactions.
(FR)La présente invention porte sur de nouveaux composés nitroxyle à substitution alpha-hydrogène et leurs formes oxydée (cations d'oxoammonium) et réduite (hydroxylamine) correspondantes, ainsi que sur l'utilisation de ces composés pour, entre autres, (1) l'oxydation d'alcools primaires et secondaires en aldéhydes et cétones, respectivement; (2) la résolution d'alcools racémiques; (3) la désymétrisation d'alcools méso; (4) en tant que radicaux et réactifs de piégeage de spin; et (5) en tant qu'agents de polymérisation. La présente invention a trait également à des procédés de préparation des nouveaux composés de nitroxyle/d'oxoammonium/d'hydroxylamine à partir des amines correspondantes, et à certains nouveaux dérivés d'amine et leurs utilisations. Les composés de l'invention ainsi que les précurseurs d'amine sont également utiles en tant que ligands pour métaux de transition et qu'organocatalyseurs dans, par exemple, les réactions aldoliques.
