Abstract:
(EN) A compact electricity generating apparatus for use in tidal flows and streams with flow depths as low as 0.2 m uses an Archimedes screw located in a channel within a housing. Water flowing through the channel drives the screw and the rotation is used to directly generate electricity by locating permanent magnets in the blades of the screw which act as a rotor for stator coils located in the housing. Three phase power can then be provided to remote (i.e. on shore) power conversion and management apparatus. The apparatus are modular to allow rapid deployment and removal. Allowing multiple units to be mounted to support structures to form tree deployments. The trunks of such trees can be used to house power cables. Multiple trees can be deployed to create a forest deployment to allow scaling up power generation whilst maintaining ease of installation and maintenance.
(FR) Un appareil de génération d'électricité compact pour une utilisation dans des flux et des courants de marées avec des profondeurs de flux aussi faibles que 0,2 m utilise une vis d'Archimède située dans un canal à l'intérieur d'un boîtier. L'eau s'écoulant au travers du canal entraîne la vis et la rotation est utilisée pour générer directement de l'électricité en localisant des aimants permanents dans les pales de la vis qui agissent comme un rotor pour des bobines de stator situées dans le boîtier. Du courant triphasé peut ensuite être fourni à un appareil de conversion et de gestion de courant (c'est-à-dire sur un rivage). Les appareils sont modulaires afin de permettre un déploiement et un enlèvement rapides. Permettant à plusieurs unités d'être montées pour soutenir des structures pour former des déploiements d'arbre. Les troncs de tels arbres peuvent être utilisés pour loger des câbles de courant. Plusieurs arbres peuvent être déployés pour créer un déploiement de forêt pour permettre l'augmentation de la génération de courant tout en conservant une facilité d'installation et de maintenance.
