Abstract:
The present invention relates to a detection unit (60) for detecting a duty cycle of an electrical power signal provided by an external electrical power source (16) for powering a dimmable load (12), in particular an LED unit (12) comprising one or more LEDs, the detection unit comprising an input terminal (62) for receiving the electrical power signal (V14) from the external electrical power source (16), a converter unit (76; 86) connected to the input terminal (62) for converting the electrical power signal (V14) from the external power source (16) to a timing signal (78) corresponding to the electrical power provided by the power source (16), a filter device (84) connected to the converter unit (76; 86) for filtering the timing signal (78) to a constant control signal (32) corresponding to the electrical power provided by the external power source (16), and an output terminal (66) for providing the constant control signal (32) to an external control unit (20).
