Abstract:
(EN) The present invention seeks to provide an improved file system that provides essence data for a media file in a way that does not require the contents of the entire file to be available before any file data can be provided. The present invention is reflected in a method of providing file data for a media file of a pre-determined format from a file system comprising a file record database and a data store, wherein the media file corresponds to a programme. The method comprises the steps of receiving details of the programme including the duration of the programme, and determining the layout of the media file in the pre-determined format from the received details of the programme, the layout including locations for essence data within the file. A file record for the media file is then created in the file record database. In response to a request for the location of essence data within the file, a location given by the determined layout of the media file is returned. Further, a stream of essence data corresponding to the contents of the programme is received and the received essence data is stored in the data store. In response to a request for a portion of essence data from the media file corresponding to a time period of the programme, essence data derived from the received essence data is returned according to the determined layout of the media file.
(FR) La présente invention vise à produire un système de fichiers amélioré qui génère des données essentielles pour un fichier multimédia d'une manière qui ne nécessite pas de rendre disponibles les contenus de la totalité du fichier avant de pouvoir obtenir des données quelconques du fichier. La présente invention est mise en évidence dans un procédé permettant de fournir des données de fichiers pour un fichier multimédia d'un format prédéterminé à partir d'un système de fichiers comprenant une base de données d'enregistrement de fichiers et un magasin de données, le fichier multimédia correspondant à un programme. Le procédé comprend les étapes consistant à recevoir des détails du programme tels que la durée du programme et à déterminer la disposition du fichier multimédia dans le format prédéterminé à partir des détails du programme reçus, la disposition comprenant des emplacements pour des données essentielles à l'intérieur du fichier. Un enregistrement de fichier pour le fichier multimédia est ensuite créé dans la base de données d'enregistrement de fichiers. En réponse à une requête d'emplacement de données essentielles à l'intérieur du fichier, un emplacement donné par la disposition déterminée du fichier multimédia est renvoyé. Ensuite, un flux de données essentielles correspondant aux contenus du programme est reçu et les données essentielles reçues sont stockées dans le magasin de données. En réponse à une requête pour une partie des données essentielles provenant du fichier multimédia correspondant à une durée du programme, les données essentielles issues des données essentielles reçues conformément à la disposition déterminée du fichier multimédia sont renvoyées.
